We must develop a workforce equipped for the future. It’s our tradespeople who need the hands-on skills to drive the transition to a regenerative economy. Our role is to empower those furthest from employment with the skills they need to participate and thrive.
Training For The Future
Our impact team placements are all about giving people on the edges of society the real experience of paid, Living Wage work. The first steps focus on the basics—getting ready for work, keeping time, dressing appropriately, and showing positive behaviours and language. Every applicant goes through an interview and assessment to get onto our program.
For most of our impact team, this is their very first experience of a formal interview or assessment. For the majority, it’s the first time they’ve been told they got the job, and that they truly are capable. These small moments are the building blocks of confidence. We work with our team to help them meet high standards and feel proud of their achievements, celebrating when they know they’ve done a good job.
Work with us is about more than tasks; it’s about community. Loneliness can be a big barrier for those who lack structure in their lives. When we provide a timetable, peer support, clear roles, and plenty of encouragement, we see people hold their heads a little higher and walk a little taller. Most importantly, we stay connected after each placement, inviting people back and offering support across multiple placements until they’re ready to find a place for their future.
